According to Vedic astrology, there are 27 Nakshatras. Each constellation has its own basic nature. Some are auspicious while others are inauspicious. There are six constellations that are found in combination with two signs. These constellations belong to Ketu or Mercury. The end phase of Ketu's Nakshatra and the beginning of Mercury's Nakshatra is known as Gandmool Nakshatra. If in the horoscope the Moon is in Ashwani, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyestha, Mool and Revati Nakshatra then it is considered as Gandmool Dosh. By chanting the mantra of the Nakshatra in which the person was born and chanting Laghu Mritunjaya Mantra, its ill effects are eliminated. Due to this defect, the person becomes troublesome for himself as well as his parents. The person has to struggle a lot till the age of 28 years. To pacify this defect, 9 Brahmins perform rituals.
